High Shock loads and extreme chemical wash-downs make the environment nearly impossible for most materials. Stainless steel can cause particle dust through regular wear and tear. Brass or Bronze can dent and eventually shatter causing metal flaking or shards. Acetals and "poly" blend plastics can't handle the chemical wash downs.
