Powercore rollers run more quietly than others made of plastic or metal
Intech Power-Core Rollers

Material Information

INTECH Power-CoreTM rollers run more quietly than metal rollers, absorb vibration and shock, do not wear out the rail or track, and have low rolling resistance. They feature high load-bearing capacity and are suitable for a variety of applications requiring extended roller life.

INTECH Power-CoreTM composite material is an excellent bearing material and rollers can run directly on a hardened shaft. Lubrication is not required, however, oil and grease will not affect the roller material.

Powercore lasts longer than other plastic roller material

INTECH Power-CoreTM composite features a unique crystalline structure, remaining stable under varying conditions. It will not absorb moisture and is stress-free. The stress relaxation characteristics make the material uniquely suitable to carry static loads.

Longer roller life in tough applications

Precision bearing fit is maintained even under extreme ambient temperatures ranging from -40°F to +140°F. This stability translates into longer roller life in many tough applications.

Flat Spot Development in Plastic or Metal Rollers

Flat spot development in plastic or metal rollers means a premature end to roller life. Because of the physical properties of INTECH Power-Core material, the roller can sustain high static loads over prolonged periods of time without developing a permanent flat spot. The forces needed to initiate and maintain the rolling movement are calculated, as are the maximum load and time, to prevent permanent flat spot development.

Design tips for snap rollers used with high quality bearings

INTECH Power-CoreTM track rollers do not require hardened rail surfaces. In high load applications steel 1020 CS rail is sufficient. Snap rollers are used with high quality bearings, for drive rollers a metal core is utilized to facilitate precision shaft attachment, such as press-fit, setscrew or keyway. An aluminum core can be specified for high-speed, reciprocating movement applications.

Roller Durability Calculation

Responding to economic, competitive and environmental challenges and to customers' demands for assessing guide roller performance, our engineers, together with a leading university, developed an industry unique Roller Durability Calculation. The calculation results include:

  • Maximum static and dynamic loads;
  • Geometric distortion under load, i.e. flat development;
  • Forces required to start rolling motion under load;
  • Expected roller life in "Roll Overs" for a given load.
